西洛杉磯的冬天非常的溫和客氣，除了雨多，簡直舒適極了。轉眼間已到2011年2月，明天就是中國農曆兔年，物換星移，然而過去三年中，每年此時匹茲堡的冰風暴仍在記憶深處迴盪。

Today I took a short afternoon walk in our neighborhood. It was a beautiful, crisp fall afternoon. 空氣是靜止的，幾乎透明。天空再度湛藍。銀杏樹仍然漫天張揚著豐盛的、金黃色的葉子,其他樹則早用清脆的落葉厚厚鋪滿地面來慶祝秋天。柔軟而毛茸茸的蘆草在陽光下隨風搖曳，秋天的小蟲成群逆光飛行，我還看見松鼠忙著收集果實，穿梭電線杆上。多家工人開始檢查屋頂，或摟聚落葉成堆。一切很安靜。順天應人。這是豐收的時節。也是停下腳步反思一年時光的時刻。而這會不會是我在匹茲堡的最後一個秋天呢？

First ever 5K race in my life

I started talking about joining this race a week ago, and Steve seemed to be interesting too. However, when we woke up on the Saturday morning at 7:45am, it became a fanatic rush on our way from home to the starting station. When we arrived the station, the long racing team had already left 5 minutes ago. We registered, put on the timing chip on the shoe, and started to run and try to catch up the procession. However, we ran into the wrong direction, and on our way to go back to get a map, the first runner had arrived the ending point like a hero and received everyone's claps. Ai~~till now, Steve decided to give up and looked a little bit upset for that morning! But for me, it was the first ever 5K race experience in my life and still needed to be recorded!! Looking forward to the next run!!

Steve's first business trip- we went to DC and also celebrated my (??) birthday! We had delicious Korean beef and the night in DC was very very beautiful~ I also discovered that Andrew W. Mellon from Pittsburgh was the main benefactor of the National Gallery of Art.

疾病的省恩

這半年來身體狀況不是很好，常常有一些意想不到、也從來沒生過的小病、大病發生在身上。漸漸地，發現自己越來越怕生病，一旦有生病的徵候，就開始想很多，擔心很多。記得結婚前的自己好像比較不會這樣，生病就生病，有一種天不怕地不怕的灑脫，可是似乎婚後，讓人擔心的事越來越多，也許因為現在的生命線已經與另一個人緊緊地交纏在一塊，有了不一樣的責任與牽掛，不再是只為自己活，而是自己的幸福與健康，也是那麼深切地牽動著另一個人的幸福。哎，這是好大的責任，但這實在不是人的誓言可以保證的，只有靠著神的恩典與憐憫方能體會，婚姻實在是建立在神的救恩之上的。

Jonathan Harris, a guy from Princeton University, has been doing very intersting projects. I just found his works today.
He and his peers applied computer/internet technology with Arts to explore human's emotions, desires, and those kinds of psychological issues. Very nice examples of combination of Art/Techonology/Humanity. His latest project is Time Capsule launched on Yahoo's website.
Here is his website, I especially like the idea of "We Feel Fine".

我在寫Sci-Fi 課的期末報告，選了心愛的科幻電影（也是影史科幻電影之首喔）∼Blade Runner來作research paper的主題，隨手把一些心得記下來:
A hero of a noir story discovers the depth and complexity of the corruption in his society as a result of his detective's quest. The only rewards of the quest is his own survival, usually somewhat damaged, the knowledge of evil. (我知道文法一點都不通>_<)
人類的天真與理想，能帶我們走多遠？或是最多能做到多好？

Sunday Worship

Again, this is a beautiful Sunday morning. I woke up early and went to the church near my place.
I forgot about the sunlight saving time has started affecting last night, so I walked in with an hour early.
The pastor came to me, smiled, and said, go ahead and grab a coffee for yourself, enjoy this extra hour.
So i did as he said.
I had a slow breakfast that i missed in the past several weeks, read newspapers, and thought of many things.
Then i went to the church again at straight 9am.
This morning the pastor spoke about God's grace again. I don't know why but this series of messages really caught me.
Recently i started to look into my past, where i was trying to run away from for long time.
Things are making more sense to me now.
When the worship leader leaded the song "Return", my tears couldn't stop but fell again.
The pastor pointed out this verse Mattew 5:48, "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly father is perfect."
After the sermon, the pastor gave us a time of reflection, and we could walk up to different corners in the church to do some little things to reflect today's message.
I picked up a little stick which represented our efforts and intentions to make things better and always in control. I wrote down the words: "Stop trying so hard."

Today i thought of who I was before when i first encountered God in my life, I started to understand what He tried to teach me.
I asked Him, "what do you want me to do?"
He replied, "I don't care what you do, but I'm going to spin your heart for me."

To know God does NOT mean you're going to have a pain-free life.
I came to God when I knew He loved me unconditionally. And when I walked with Him for a while, He gave me deep wounds.
I was struggling for long long time. Now I start to understand maybe wounds are not necessary to be covered or cleared out because they are meant to stay there, for carrying meanings/messages/lessons in our life, to shape our life, to understand what God's son had experienced, and what humans are suffered from.

A lesson of grace

Today i was so down because of some incident happened out of expectation. I became sentimental and frightened by the consequenses in my imagination. Then i walked into the church to attend the service. The pastor's sermon was about "God's Grace". He is the only one who is able to speak to me that: " I love you. The way of your living now is NOT O.K. But I'll walk through this with you together." It was SOOO hard for me to accept that things can be turned around beyond my comprehension. Wrong is wrong, and i have to fix it by myself. That was always the way i learned things and people said: "YOU have to be responsible." The only way to deal with it is stand up and be strong, face it.
But this morning i felt i was so fragile. No way to fix it without Grace. "YOU need help." I told myself. "YOU need to accept forgiveness and be given." Admitting that i am not able and i need others, and God, becasue we are all so broken.
Then this afternoon, things were changed in a way i could never predict. But it has just been solved in the most amazing way that first time in my life, I realized I don't have to carry the burden and try so hard to work on it all the time. Because His grace, I can hide in the shadow, lie in there, and take a break. Thank you my Heavenly Father!

LA 第二天

今天和把Disney Land當後花園的表弟表妹，以及每次都和表弟在Disney Land約會的女朋友，一起穿上Disney的T-shirt，一瞬間成為Disney fan俱樂部的一員，在狄士尼開始體會加州人的陽光生活。Inidiana Jones很刺激好玩、Buzz Light Year是大人版的虛擬實境電動，Haunting Mansion大家很配合的尖叫反而很好笑，還好後來時間不夠，來不及玩Roller Coaster....這麼多年雲霄飛車還是我的天敵啊.........

然後去Medieval Times，生平第一次來到這種餐廳，所有人假扮成中古世紀的皇室貴族，一邊坐在競技場旁看著武士騎馬競技，一邊有穿著蓬蓬裙的宮女不停送上烤雞、豬排、馬鈴薯，可是沒有餐具~~~因為在中古世紀，你要用手扒著吃！看著英俊勇猛的武士騎馬互相廝殺，還真的頗能增進食慾...；）

晚上，可以回家不停的看中文電視，要看多少有多少，今天的心得是，整個LA對我這個Chicagoan來說就是一個大型主題樂園，晒太陽和玩耍不只是LA people的權利、更是義務，不然真是白白浪費她們得天獨厚的資源。

令人震撼的銀翼殺手

今天終於看了耳聞多時的科幻片 Blade runner (銀翼殺手)
據說是影史上經典科幻片之首，看完以後，沈浸在那種世紀末頹廢陰鬱的氛圍中久久不能自己，的確是名不虛傳。
不過我還是覺得，最會被這部電影感動的應該是男生，整部電影最深刻的，是對男性的心理描寫。
